Production readiness checklist for dbt-Workbench
Use this checklist to turn a local demo into a controlled production evaluation. It is intentionally explicit about what the project provides and what the adopting team must operate.
Deployment and data boundaries
- Pin image and dependency versions for the evaluation.
- Confirm project, artifact, log, and database volumes are backed up.
- Test restore and rollback, not only backup creation.
- Document network egress requirements and mirror dependencies for restricted environments.
- Follow the air-gapped deployment guide where required.
Access and governance
- Enable JWT authentication and RBAC.
- Map Viewer, Developer, and Admin roles to team responsibilities.
- Test workspace isolation and multiple project management.
- Define audit, retention, and incident-response ownership.
Operations
- Verify run orchestration and log visibility.
- Test scheduler retries and notifications.
- Confirm artifact ingestion and run history diagnostics.
- Document how operators debug failures using lineage and compiled SQL.
Acceptance test
The evaluation is complete when a second operator can deploy the stack, authenticate, run the demo project, find the failing model or upstream dependency, and restore the system using only the team runbook. Record gaps as GitHub issues with the environment and expected behavior.
